| The Parthian Battles are over; in a very tightly
contested pair of games, Mastadon won the first one 5-1 by killing two
of my guys and taking my camp, and I won the second one 4G-3.
The Parthian Light Horse were the crucial element
in both battles, dominating the center battle in the one I won, and making
it impossible for me to redeploy and recover from an initial Lh QK in the
one I lost. Don outplayed me in the battle where he beat me, and played
even with me in the one I won. Since I think the victory is determined
by tie-break, it is certainly appropriate that he be named the overall
victor. I don't remember if the Parthian Battles tourney counts Generals
as +2, +1, or nothing extra, but even if they count +2 like in all my tourneys,
Don wins by a tiebreak of 8-7.

And it is quite appropriate that the Parthian
army won both battles in the finals of the Parthian Battles Tournament.

It was an extremely close affair, and I agree
with you, John, playing against someone of the caliber of DK makes it all
the more memorable. The dead did die well in both games, and some would
not go easy.
